A Rainy Day at the Park

March 3, 2015 by Erin Vincent 22 Comments

We wanted to go to the park today. Never mind that it was 48 degrees and raining off and on. We just layered up our clothing, put on our raincoats, grabbed the umbrella and headed out the door. We even managed to convince Papa to come out into the rain with us! A Rainy Day at the Park The first thing we noticed when we got to the park was the abundance of parking spaces. We had the … [Read more...] about A Rainy Day at the Park

Snow Day!

February 25, 2015 by Erin Vincent 24 Comments

We had our first little snow today...it was less than an inch really. Not a big deal except the children thought it was the greatest thing to ever happen. Gabriel woke up and came rushing into my bedroom, "Mama, Mama! There's snow! It's Beautiful! Come See!" As I struggled to wake up I heard him singing in the living room, " See the Beautiful snow. See the Beautiful snow." Snow Day After … [Read more...] about Snow Day!

My sister and brother-in-law decided they they wanted to spend their vacation with us this past week of February. We are always delighted to have them. We always have the best fun together. Interest Led Learning: A Prehistoric Boy

February 17, 2015 by Erin Vincent 10 Comments

My son has been a dinosaur fanatic ever since he was 3 years old. This passion has spilled over into everyday life for us. What started out as a little boys interest has led to many museum visits, documentaries, puzzles, science experiments, internet searches, geography, mapping skills, and paleontology summer camps. As a family, we have all learned more about the Permian, Jurassic, Triassic, … [Read more...] about Interest Led Learning: A Prehistoric Boy

A Day in the Life of My Scholar

January 26, 2015 by Erin Vincent 6 Comments

I wake up with a pain in my neck...I have slept on it wrong. I roll over and realize Papa is still in bed. It must be really early! Papa's alarm goes off at 4:30am. He gets up to turn his alarm off and looks at me in shock. "What are you doing awake?!" he exclaims. "Can't Sleep", I say. As I sit up, I see light coming from under the door. Someone else is awake. A Day in the Life … [Read more...] about A Day in the Life of My Scholar

Making Kimchi with Gabriel

January 12, 2015 by Erin Vincent

Today I asked Gabriel if he wanted to help me make kimchi.  He was thrilled. Gabriel loves helping in the kitchen and he loves kimchi.  He did asked if he could do all of the chopping and pick what type of cabbages we use.  Usually, I make kimchi with Nappa Cabbage, but Gabriel wanted to use a combination of green cabbage and purple cabbage.  He said this would be prettier to eat. I agreed to his … [Read more...] about Making Kimchi with Gabriel

A Day in the Life of My Scholar

January 8, 2015 by Erin Vincent

This was the very first post I ever did. Before we truly embraced that we were unschoolers. Since then many things have changed. The musical, Grease, is no longer Jades favorite soundtrack. Today it is The Lion King. Papa no longer gets to come home during the day and Gabriel bounces around around with his interests, but is still a lover of paleontology. April 24, 2015 A Day in the Life of My … [Read more...] about A Day in the Life of My Scholar
