This week my 4 year old daughter gave herself a hair cut. Yep, all of her lovely golden curls, that took nearly 3 years to grow, are now gone. But you know what? I didn’t yell and I’m OK with it. This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure statement for more information. […]
Perfectionism has reared its ugly head again. Not that it has ever completely left. Oh, no…but some days…weeks…months are easier than others. Helping Our Perfectionist Child Our son has been a perfectionist since he was a small child. Of all the things I could have passed on to my offspring…blue eyes, long legs, cunning wit…perfectionism and […]
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a favorite in our home. We read it every year at Halloween and our kids never seem to tire of it. This year I decided to do a bit more than read the original classic by Washington Irving. This year I wanted to add in a few activities to go along this famous folk tale.
Jade had the best fun with a slime making kit that she got for her birthday. Even Gabriel joined in the science fun!
The temperatures have begun to drop and the leaves have begun to change. With these changes the children and I thought we would respond to autumn’s call with a little walk in our neighborhood.
This week the children and I decided to take a little holiday together. My husband couldn’t come because he was needed at work. So the children and I left the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, for a short time, and enjoyed the green pastures and slow pace of my sisters farm.
Our toddler, Jade, is the most precious little girl I have ever known. I know I’m biased, but I did give birth to her, so…..yeah. Anyway, as precious as this precocious little girl is I have begun to notice certain traits of hers that confound me. I mean, I don’t remember my son behaving this way. Ever. Of course it’s been five years since he was a toddler, so it is possible that I have simply forgotten… So, I’ve been thinking, “What if I acted like my toddler?”

We are celebrating two birthdays in the month of March…my husbands birthday is the 16th and his moms birthday is the 13th. Because the birthdays are so close together, we try to get together on the weekend of the birthdays each year. There is nothing better than spending time with the ones you love. So, this year we took the hour drive down to his moms house or as the kids call her “Nana Charlie.” Gabriel gave her that name when he was only 3 years old. She had a shitzu named Charlie that Gabriel adored. Gabriel started calling her “Nana Charlie” one day instead of just “Nana” because he could always remember Charlie and it kinda stuck. Now he and Jade both call her “Nana Charlie.”
