This week our three year old, Jade, decided she wanted to do some baking. It must be something about being newly turned three that gives one such independence. Anytime we would offer help she would say, “I can do do it, I don’t need help.” And she did too! Her cupcakes came out wonderfully!

We read quite a few books this week: The Pumpkin Runner (which is based on a true story!), From Seed to Pumpkin, How Much is a Million, Inventions and Inventors, A Bat Cannot Bat, A Stair Cannot Stare (an awesome Brain Cleary book about Homonyms and Homophones), Eye to Eye (talks about the 4 different types of eyes and the creatures that have them), Face to Face with Sharks, and Dinosaur Combat.

Our son, Gabriel, and I started reading The Number Devil and How to Train Your Dragon book 1. We are also continuing The Hobbit: Illustrated Edition.

Gabriel wanted to plant something that would bloom. So, we went to the local plant nursery and he picked out an amaryllis bulb. He picked the one without a tag because he wanted to be surprised by its color. We talked about the root system and the growth of plants as he planted it. He planted it all on his own and is proudly waiting for it to grow and bloom.

Jade received some Glitter Play-doh as an early birthday gift. She played for HOURS! Gabriel played loads of his favorite math game Prodigy and discovered a new math game called Math Slicer!

I made soap foam for Jade to play with. She had a blast stirring, and mixing with her hands and a big wooden spoon. It’s super easy! All you need is

  • 2 Tablespoons of dish soap
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • a few drops of food coloring

Blend on high speed in the blender for a minute or two and you have FOAM!

There was loads of LEGO building too.

Jade painted a few masterpieces.

I made sure that we went outside daily for play. Jade was looking fierce with her new scooter and helmet.

Jade baked more cupcakes later on in the week and then she had to show her Papa the proper way to frost them. It was adorable!

We had an outdoor Frozen themed birthday party for Jade. She turned three years old and you can read all about it HERE. It was a total blast!

Jade had the best fun with a slime making kit that she got for her birthday. Even Gabriel joined in the science fun!

Jade also enjoyed coloring with dry erase makers on a her new Frozen Mat.

Our week ended outside playing football with friends and riding bicycles. It was a great week and we all enjoyed celebrating the birthday of our littlest blessing.
