Winter has come to East Tenneesee and while it's still considered fall (a minor technicality, really as the Winter Solstice is only a few days away) the temperatures agree with me. At 30 degrees on our favorite mountain, it is winter my friend. The cold is nipping at our noses and we have broken out the scarves, mittens, and winter coats! Imagine the thrill and delight we had when our … [Read more...] about Winter Hike with Friends

Our Day at the Knoxville Zoo
The weekend of our daughter's birthday, the Knoxville Zoo had their Dollar Days. This is where you can get $1 tickets to the zoo so long as you bring non-perishable food donations for each ticket purchased. I bought six tickets and we invited Uncle Joe and Aunt Stephanie to come along with us. The children were so excited to visit all of the animals. They could barely contain their … [Read more...] about Our Day at the Knoxville Zoo

Welcome to another Week in Review. This is where I catch you up on all the goings on here at Nourishing My Scholar. This week has felt a bit out of sorts actually, because our natural rhythm has been disrupted by dental visits for the children and a veterinarian visit for one of our fur babies. I must say that I find books like A Gracious Space, especially helpful in weeks like this when … [Read more...] about Our Week in Review

Kayaking and Canoeing.... I've been wanting to have just such an adventure with the children all summer! We finally received our opportunity at Warrior's Path State Park here in East Tennessee! We have a homeschool group that meets there every Thursday afternoon for a Ranger led excursion and talk about the local flora and fauna. This week one of the rangers was leading a kayaking and … [Read more...] about Our Kayaking and Canoeing Adventure
Our Week in Review
Another week has come and gone. Anyone else exhausted? I know I sure am. Perhaps I just need more caffeine in the way of coffee! I always start my day with coffee and now that we've entered into a new school year I like to start my day with a bit of encouragement. I've really been enjoying Brave Writer's Julie Bogart on Facebook. Each morning at 8am she is live with … [Read more...] about Our Week in Review
A Homeschool Day in the Life
On a Farm (with a 3 & 9 year old) This new school year looks much different than last. because last year we lived in Atlanta, Georgia. This year we said goodbye to the hustle and bustle of the city and moved to a farm in East Tennessee! It has taken some adjustment for sure. Adjustments to living in a smaller space without a school room. Adjustments from Unschooling to a more Eclectic … [Read more...] about A Homeschool Day in the Life
Our Week in Review
Welcome to another "Week in Review" here at Nourishing My Scholar. I am happy to report that our daughters night terrors have eased up this week and have been replaced with 3am wake ups that involve deep, thought provoking questions like...."what happens to the animals in the desert if all of the cactus were to die?"...true story. Sleep deprivation is not our friend. Coffee, however, has … [Read more...] about Our Week in Review
