The best reading program just got even better, folks! That’s right, the All About Reading Color Edition is here!
*Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure statement for more information. I received All About Reading: Level 2 at no cost in exchange for a review. A positive review was not required. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only choose to share resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other families will enjoy and benefit from.
All About Reading
All About Reading has been a part of our family for over two years, folks. It has staying power! It is an all-around solid reading curriculum that offers a multi-sensory approach. All About Reading encompasses sight, sound, and touch. Which is super important for little learners. This is seriously the best reading program!
I love that this lightly scripted Orton-Gillingham approach is open-and-go. It provides everything I need to teach my daughter in a way that thrills and excites her. This program doesn’t require long periods of study, you don’t have to develop your own lesson plans, and you don’t have to stress over what to teach next.
All About Reading: Level 2
My daughter was thrilled when her All About Reading Level 2 materials arrived. She immediately started flipping through the readers and trying to decode some of the words and stories. I must admit she did a pretty good job too!
Though she still has a few more weeks left to finish her All About Reading: Level 1, I have no doubts that she will be ready for Level 2 when we start.
With All About Reading: Level 2 my daughter will learn:
- Decoding (phonics) such as WH, EE, ER, AR, OR, ED, OY, OI, AW, AU, OW, and OU; Read words with long I or O before two consonants; Read words with soft C, read words with soft G; Learn the first four jobs of Silent E.
- Decoding (structural analysis) of base words, read contractions, learn syllable division rules, and read words in past tense ending in ed.
- New Vocabulary while learning to understand homophones, synonyms, and antonyms.
- Fluency includes reading with accuracy, with meaningful expression, and natural phrasing.
- Comprehension activities include making predictions, identifying main characters, character motivations, main conflicts, compare and contrast.
All About Reading Color Edition
Here’s the Ah-mazing part. All About Reading just got even better!
It is now in COLOR!
Those heirloom quality readers are now even more gorgeous and filled with vibrant color. Remember how I said my daughter was thrilled when her Level 2 materials arrived? Well, she may have also squealed with excitement.
“Mama! Look! It’s so Beautiful!”
“Can I start reading them now?”
She even pulled out her current black and white Level 1 readers and compared them to her new color edition Level 2 books.
The color added is a lovely soft color pencil style that compliments the heirloom quality reader artwork.
My little animal lover thrilled at the colorful pictures of deer, dogs, and ducks!
Activity Books and Teacher’s Manuals
Even the Activity Book is in color now! This is the book that contains many of the engaging hands-on reading activities and reading games for kids to use to practice what they’ve learned.
Finally, the Teacher Manual’s got a colorful update too! This is helpful for knowing which color tiles or flashcards you should be using for a lesson. In addition to being color, they also contain expanded appendices, tips, and introductory material. Perfect for a parent who is new to the Orton-Gillingham method.
The core of All About Reading has not changed. It is still a well-made solid reading program that is helping my daughter through her homeschool literacy journey.
