Sunday is the only day of the week that my husband is off. We decided to spend our day together out in nature, at the Jones Bridge Trail off of the Chattahoochee River. This beautiful trail is a 4.6 mile loop that includes remnants of the old bridge built in 1904, dismantled and largely stolen in the 1940's, as well as access to the river itself. We arrived around 10am and the trail was … [Read more...] about Our Family Hike Along the River

A Day in the Life of an Unschooled Scientist
Gabriel and I both woke up at 8am. He went into his "LEGO Room" to build while I made breakfast. Around 9:30am my toddler, Jade, was up and ready to get the day going. When I asked them what we should do first they immediately yelled "Go Outside!" Okey Dokey, outside it will be. We headed for our favorite trail that circles around our apartment complex. It is awesome, because you feel … [Read more...] about A Day in the Life of an Unschooled Scientist
Our Week in Pictures
This week was one of the most beautiful since spring began. It was fairly warm and the sun was shining here in Georgia. So, we spent most of our time outdoors hiking and climbing trees! The kids used their binoculars or "Onoculist" as my daughter Jade calls them, to look for birds and squirrels. We followed deer tracks and found sweet little flowers on the forest floor. Our Week in … [Read more...] about Our Week in Pictures

The First Hike of Spring
The weather has been steadily warming and today the sun is shining. Its time for a first hike of spring! But first things first...Gabriel wants face paint. He is slightly obsessed with J. R. R. Well, you never know what … [Read more...] about The First Hike of Spring
What Homeschool Looks Like
The Science Festival in Atlanta, GA. is a very exciting experience for a science loving kid. It is a first for Gabriel as is the train ride to Centennial Olympic Park where all of the booths are set up! Gabriel had me put war paint on him before getting dressed....because that's what you do as a 7 year old boy about to go on an adventure! He may or may not have an obsession with J. R. R. … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like
What Homeschool Looks Like
Sometimes Homeschool looks like playing chess, outside at the local nature preserve...with river rocks. Other times it looks like a 4 hour class on bird identification, bird calls and bird crafts. At least that's what Homeschool looked like on March 27th. What Homeschool Looks Like … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like
What Homeschool Looks Like, A Compassion Experience
Last week I asked my son if he would like to go to the "Compassion Experience." I told him it was a way for him to experience how children in other countries live in poverty. It is approved for all ages and he was very interested. Compassion Experience The experience took us through the lives of three different children in the developing countries of India, Bolivia, and Uganda. It was a very … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like, A Compassion Experience
A Beautiful Day with Papa
An overcast day is full of possibilities. When Papa comes home early, we abandon all other pursuits to go play with him. As we make our way outside, we stop by the pansy beds to look for bugs. They can only find one lone bee. We stop by the mailboxes so Papa can check the mail. A Beautiful Day Then we make our way to the playground. Papa and Gabriel throw the ball to each other for a … [Read more...] about A Beautiful Day with Papa
