When we were checking out books at the library this past weekend, the librarian commented about how our son must love snakes….he does, but the stack of snake books were actually the books our four-year-old daughter had picked out!
Whether you love snakes or fear them, you have to agree that snakes are fascinating creatures. From being legless to being able to taste the air with their forked tongues, snakes contribute to a healthy ecosystem. Not every snake eats every pest. Some are fantastic at keeping rodent populations down and other smaller snakes feed on many harmful insects that can wreak havoc on lawns and crops. No matter if your child is a boy or girl; here are 20 creepy crawly snake books your kids are sure to love!

Sometimes the kids go to our local pet store just to hold the boas…

Great list. Verdi was one of my favorite Readers Club books to teach when I worked at a zoo. Thank you for providing a list when so many dislike snakes. And thank you for not calling them slimy! Love the name of your ball python. We had several for our education dept at the zoo (named Monty, Lucille, and Desi). They are some of the sweetest snakes.
