Last week my husband and I took our children up to the beautiful state of Tennessee. We were visiting my sister and brother-in-law on their farm for eight days. There were so many memorable adventures that I have made them into separate posts. You can see our first day on the farm here, our hike up Margarette Falls here, our day at Brights Zoo here, our Dinosaur Adventure here, fishing at the Pond here, and hiking Viking Mountain here.
The children, my husband and I had the most wonderful vacation at my sister and brother-in-law’s farm. There was plenty to do and see. Our daughter, Jade, was old enough this year to help feed and water the cows. Something she looked forward to every morning.
The chickens, and honeybees were fun to learn about and help with. As was climbing the peach trees and just having the run of the farm.
Uncle Joe showed us how to walk the fence of the cow pasture looking for places that needed mending. Along the way we discovered flowers, an old tree inhabited by wild honey bees, and a 3 ft black snake.
Our son, Gabriel, learned that things don’t always go right on a farm. When a baby calve got sick, he helped Uncle Joe take care of it. He learned that sometimes you need to call the veterinarian too.
We enjoyed picking blackberries and wildflowers in the fields.
As well as the giving back to the community by donating to the local animal shelter.
Even though we did loads of activities and we were on a farm for our vacation…..For me, the best part of it all was sitting around the old kitchen table with our family, enjoying their company.
