Welcome to our week in review! We have been living on my sisters farm now for nearly two months and I think we have finally found our rhythm! Farm life has so much to offer our children as they connect with nature and the animals all around them. This post may contain affiliate links. An Afternoon at Garrard Landing Park
Earlier this week the hubby and I took the children to nearby Garrard Landing Park. This park has a sweet little playground and a nice gravel trail that takes you along the Chattahoochee River. It was a lovely and cool overcast day. Our daughter, Jade, wouldn't hear of wearing the matching outfit I had picked out for her. She has been dressing herself now for since she was 2 years old … [Read more...] about An Afternoon at Garrard Landing Park
Our Morning Walk Along the River
Today was a cold over cast day. The weatherman was calling for rain all afternoon and we haven't been getting our nature fix lately. I make sure we get outside but a nice walk in the woods has been few and far between since the new year began. Life just seems to happen, but now that we have a second vehicle, I plan on making making nature our norm again. I decided we needed to get out … [Read more...] about Our Morning Walk Along the River
An Autumn Walk
The temperatures have begun to drop and the leaves have begun to change. With these changes the children and I thought we would respond to autumn's call with a little walk in our neighborhood. We were surprised to find pink Camellias in bloom. Our daughter, Jade, found an interesting fungus on an old wooden stump. The children found an abundance of Acorns and Holly Berries. The sweet … [Read more...] about An Autumn Walk
Making Nature Fairies
This week the children and I decided to make nature fairies as a welcome to the coming of fall. We saw a post about making them at Twig and Toadstool and the kids loved the idea. With the first cool nights and the leaves changing colors, this is a great time for collecting items outdoors. First we went on a nature hike and found pine cones, acorns, rocks, sticks and leaves. … [Read more...] about Making Nature Fairies
At the Pond
Last week my husband and I took our children up to the beautiful state of Tennessee. We were visiting my sister and brother-in-law on their farm for eight days. There were so many memorable adventures that I have made them into separate posts. You can see our first day on the farm here, our hike up Margarette Falls here, our day at Brights Zoo here, and our Dinosaur Adventure … [Read more...] about At the Pond
Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!
On Saturday, we decided to visit an animal sanctuary called Noah's Ark. We felt this would make a great family outing as well as an educational experience for us all. It is located just south of Atlanta, Georgia. I adore the mission behind this non profit sanctuary. They are dedicated to providing homes to injured, abused and orphaned animals, they provide a place of love for animals … [Read more...] about Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!
Our Family Hike Along the River
Sunday is the only day of the week that my husband is off. We decided to spend our day together out in nature, at the Jones Bridge Trail off of the Chattahoochee River. This beautiful trail is a 4.6 mile loop that includes remnants of the old bridge built in 1904, dismantled and largely stolen in the 1940's, as well as access to the river itself. We arrived around 10am and the trail was … [Read more...] about Our Family Hike Along the River
