A Week in the Life of Unschoolers

June 1, 2015 by Erin Vincent Leave a Comment

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure statement for more information.  We began our week with the building of the K'nex Robo Sting...I say we, but Gabriel did 95% of the work. This is his first K'nex. He wanted to try one out to see if it was something he would enjoy. He began working on this Robo Sting over the weekend, but couldn't finish it until … [Read more...] about A Week in the Life of Unschoolers

Our Week in Pictures

May 18, 2015 by Erin Vincent Leave a Comment

Our week began with tree climbing, swings, discovering a patch of wild strawberries, and digging in the dirt! We had lots of play time with friends, including freeze tag, red light green light, and hide-and-go seek! Gabriel even taught one of his friends how to use his sling shot. Both of my children are social butterflies. Our Week in Pictures Gabriel read to our Mama … [Read more...] about Our Week in Pictures

What If I Acted Like My Toddler

April 26, 2015 by Erin Vincent 35 Comments

Our toddler, Jade, is the most precious little girl I have ever known. I know I'm biased, but I did give birth to her, so.....yeah. Anyway, as precious as this precocious little girl is I have begun to notice certain traits of hers that confound me. I mean, I don't remember my son behaving this way. Ever. Of course it's been five years since he was a toddler, so it is possible that I … [Read more...] about What If I Acted Like My Toddler

What Homeschool Looks Like

April 2, 2015 by Erin Vincent 4 Comments

The Science Festival in Atlanta, GA. is a very exciting experience for a science loving kid. It is a first for Gabriel as is the train ride to Centennial Olympic Park where all of the booths are set up! Gabriel had me put war paint on him before getting dressed....because that's what you do as a 7 year old boy about to go on an adventure! He may or may not have an obsession with J. R. R. … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like

A Beautiful Day with Papa

March 28, 2015 by Erin Vincent 14 Comments

An overcast day is full of possibilities. When Papa comes home early, we abandon all other pursuits to go play with him.  As we make our way outside, we stop by the pansy beds to look for bugs. They can only find one lone bee. We stop by the mailboxes so Papa can check the mail. A Beautiful Day Then we make our way to the playground. Papa and Gabriel throw the ball to each other for a … [Read more...] about A Beautiful Day with Papa

What Homeschool Looks Like

March 11, 2015 by Erin Vincent 12 Comments

This post is a part of the What Homeschool Looks Like series over at Our Life At Home. I chose this photo of my son as we were leaving the library this week. The library is such a magical place for us. The whole world is at our fingertips. I have a strict policy when I take my son to the library.....He chooses what he wants to read, always. I never make him pick a book. I may give him … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like

Taekwondo Kid

March 9, 2015 by Erin Vincent 17 Comments

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that combines combat and self-defense techniques. In Korean, tae means "to stomp" or "to break with the foot"; kwon means "to strike or break with fist"; and do means "way of life." So, loosely translated, Taekwondo means "the way of the foot and hand." Taekwondo Kid My husband and I started looking into martial arts for our son, Gabriel, back in September. … [Read more...] about Taekwondo Kid

A Rainy Day at the Park

March 3, 2015 by Erin Vincent 22 Comments

We wanted to go to the park today. Never mind that it was 48 degrees and raining off and on. We just layered up our clothing, put on our raincoats, grabbed the umbrella and headed out the door. We even managed to convince Papa to come out into the rain with us! A Rainy Day at the Park The first thing we noticed when we got to the park was the abundance of parking spaces. We had the … [Read more...] about A Rainy Day at the Park

What Homeschool Looks Like

February 25, 2015 by Erin Vincent 2 Comments

This post is part of the What Homeschool Looks Like series over at Our Life At Home. Jade is always moving. After running, jumping, and throwing snowballs in our first snow of the year, my daughter tumbled face first into a mud puddle. She didn't skip a beat and kept on running around the playground with her brother. … [Read more...] about What Homeschool Looks Like
