*Disclosure: I was compensated for my time in exchange for an honest review of KidzType. I was not required to write a positive review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only choose to share resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other families will enjoy and benefit from.
It’s no secret that children learn best through play. One of the best ways for kids to play is with games! We are a family of game lover’s folks. We are always looking for fun games to enjoy as well as experience and learn new things.
Some of our favorite games teach literacy skills, math skills, verbal communication skills, cooperation skills, improved critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
If you need to teach your kiddo something, then I promise, there is a game to help you!
What about typing?
I recently discovered KidzType. This website offers lessons, exercises, practices, and finger charts to help teach your child typing skills.
KidzType also offers a variety of FREE typing games!
FREE Typing Practice for Kids
The KidzType homepage has four levels of dance mat typing. These levels teach your kiddo where specific keys are located on the keyboard.
KidzType dance mat typing exercises help your child progress and learn new keys as they complete each level while continuing to practice what they’ve already learned.
FREE Typing Games for Kids
At the top of the KidzType homepage are several tabs including:
- Games
- Lessons
- Exercises
- Practices
- Finger Chart
When you click on the KidzType Game tab you’ll see a selection of typing games for kids!
These kids typing games are super fun and cute! They subtly provide typing lessons on accuracy and speed as well as interactive gameplay. My kids were refining their typing skills while killing zombies, racing cars, swimming with mermaids, and flying planes!
*Because KidzType is FREE there are ads on the screen. You can zoom in on the game so that the ads are not a distraction.
Typing Practice Games with KidzType
I appreciate that KidzType dance mat shows your speed and accuracy after each level. Even my husband and I got in on the action to see who had the fastest and most accurate typing.
The KidzType games were lively and engaging. My kids seriously enjoyed them. I loved that I didn’t have to teach anything. The kids could learn touch typing by simply playing the games with this FREE educational resource!
Check out their video below to find out more about all your child can learn with KidzType.
Did you know that KidzType has a sister site called TypingDojo where you can access typing tests? These can come in handy if you feel you need to test what your child is learning.
On TypeDojo, you can also find typing lessons.
Typing is an essential skill in this day and age. Programs like KidzType and TypeDojo make teaching our kids touch typing as easy as playing a game!
Tell me, are you teaching typing to your kids?
