Illustrated children's books are a perfect way for kids to explore nature! Let's face it... we can't always get outside for nature study. The weather may not cooperate, or someone may be feeling poorly. Life happens. Maybe you have had a full day of hiking and exploring, and now your children want to extend their exploration of nature with books? Or you may want to simply strew these fantastic … [Read more...] about Exploring Nature with Illustrated Children’s Books

Winter Hike with Friends
Winter has come to East Tenneesee and while it's still considered fall (a minor technicality, really as the Winter Solstice is only a few days away) the temperatures agree with me. At 30 degrees on our favorite mountain, it is winter my friend. The cold is nipping at our noses and we have broken out the scarves, mittens, and winter coats! Imagine the thrill and delight we had when our … [Read more...] about Winter Hike with Friends

Celebrating Earth Day in the Rain
April 22nd is celebrated around the world as Earth Day. Many people plant trees, help clean up trash or even recycle. We found our Earth Day to be a soggy wet day....but, that is part of living on this Earth...the weather! So, we donned our rain boots, raincoats and umbrellas and headed out into the rain to a nearby creek. What better way to appreciate the Earth than being out in it? … [Read more...] about Celebrating Earth Day in the Rain
An Afternoon at Garrard Landing Park
Earlier this week the hubby and I took the children to nearby Garrard Landing Park. This park has a sweet little playground and a nice gravel trail that takes you along the Chattahoochee River. It was a lovely and cool overcast day. Our daughter, Jade, wouldn't hear of wearing the matching outfit I had picked out for her. She has been dressing herself now for since she was 2 years old … [Read more...] about An Afternoon at Garrard Landing Park
