On our second day of vacation Uncle Joe took us hiking up to Margarette Falls. My sister wasn’t up to the hike so she stayed at the farm with Jade. Margarette Falls is one of 177 trails in the Cherokee National Forest. I adore being in the forest. It always makes me feel so rejuvenated and grounded. This trail is 3.5 miles and follows the stream up to the actual falls. It is filled with beautiful wildflowers and mushrooms. We also noticed some extremely large millipedes near the water. Gabriel loved getting a closer look!

We spent the first few moments at the farm in the pastures feeding the calves. Uncle Joe showed Gabriel how to cut down the stalks of corn and then they carried the stalks to baby cows. Even Jade helped carry the heavy load…that is she carried one whole stalk. We then got to hand feed the stalks of corn to the calves. It was a great experience and the kids really enjoyed it.
This week my son, Gabriel, received his Tinker Crate subscription box. There is something about getting a package in the mail addressed to you personally that is exciting. This package contained all of the items needed to experiment with Polymers…while sitting on my counter.
This week was full and I found that I lost track of time quite a bit. Of course, I never mind losing track when we are out in nature. We hiked some familiar trails this week and one new one.
Oh my gosh folks, this has been such a busy week! We converted our sunroom/lego room into Gabriel’s bedroom. Honestly, it was probably easier moving all of our furniture instead of trying to move all of his Lego’s! But he needed his own space. We moved Jade into our bedroom to be closer to Gabriel and we moved into her old room. Our home was a disaster for several days! The result was worth it. Everyone LOVES their rooms and you wouldn’t believe all of the STUFF we got rid of in the process!
On Sunday we took the kids to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. This is a lovely nature center filled multiple trails, a butterfly garden, and many wildlife animals that have been rescued or in the process of rehabilitation. Once we got the map, our son, Gabriel volunteered to be our map holder and guide.
This week my son received a new subscription box that he has wanted to try out. The Green Kid Crafts Box is a Science/Stem/Craft subscription for children ages 6-10 years old. It was a hit in our home!
