Children’s poetry books are a rich way for kids to enjoy limericks, poetic stanzas, tongue twisters, and rhymes. Through poetry, they learn the joy of play on words, puns, and metaphors all while using their imaginations.

20 Favorite Children’s Poetry Books and Poetry Teatime
I was never a lover of poetry until I discovered Robert Frost and his “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood…” in ninth grade. I adored that poem so much that I memorized it and carried it with me through college where I discovered more wonderful works. Poets such as Emily Dickinson, Robert Loius Stevenson, and Walt Witman left their poetic marks on me.
I hope to instill a love of poetry into my own children. When I discovered that the Brave Writer Lifestyle encouraged poetry with children. I was thrilled.
Poetry Teatime has become a big deal in our home! My kiddos beg for poetry weekly and they are always coming up with silly rhymes, tongue twisters, and little poems of their own. I totally can live with that.
So here are our favorite children’s poetry books to inspire your own little poets.
